Nanofiltration is a new type of membrane separation technology between reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration. Compared with the traditional reverse osmosis membrane, nanofiltration membrane NF-1 has an operating pressure which is only about 1/3 of the traditional reverse osmosis membranes while has a high selectivity for bivalent ions. Nanofiltration membrane can be used for water softening, and can effectively remove the total carbon in water under very low operating pressure. Nanofiltration can also remove low molecular weight compounds, bacteria and heavy metal pollutants in water. Nanofiltration membranes are suitable for waste water reuse and industrial waste water treatment. The NF-1 membrane has a higher desalination rate than NF-2.

NF-2 can be used to partially soften the water quality and is suitable for water reuse, industrial water preparation and removal of pesticides / organic compounds in water. NF-2 is featured with higher production of water and lower cost of energy, and is suitable for operation systems of high water production requirements.
